Jernej Šimec is a Slovenian photographer and visual artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2021. During his studies he spent a year at the Akademia Sztuk Pięknych in Warsaw, and in 2024 he completed an exchange at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes in Lisbon, where he studied sculpture.
He is completing his master's degree in photography at ALUO in Ljubljana. His practice explores walking as an aesthetic practice, which he records in various media. Through installations and interventions in public space he develops his methods of visually mapping space into three-dimensional forms.
